This is the plans for the Portland skate park

So this is the initial plan for the Portland skate park that will be off of exit 5. In my opinion it looks amazing. Way better than any of the other plans. It has things for everyone that likes street skating ledges, manuel pads, stairs, handrails etc. It's cool that it has replicas of Pier 7 and the china banks from San Fransisco. It even has a bowl and some larger quarter pipes with hips on them there as well. I think it's a great idea to get a world renown park builder to make it then who they had originally to do it. The last thing we need to to waste a 1/4 of a million dollars on a park that's exactly the same as all the other parks in the area.

You should read the following links before you go praising these assholes and shitting on Grindline, Who Skates and California Skateparks, the other bidders who got shafted by these money hungry twits and their glossy catalogs.

They've already backed out the pool and will continue to fuck with you guys until you end up just another topic in one of the forums below.

This comment "I think it's a great idea to get a world renown park builder to make it then who they had originally to do it" is ignorant and you have no fucking clue what you're getting yourself into.

Well when I made that comment I was talking more about some of the more local companies that have have already built parks in Maine in the past. As far as the design of the park is which I'm commenting on and which I'm exciting about. It's nice to see that Maine is more of a street plaza design rather than a flow park like we already have in the area. And when you say "This comment is ignorant and you have no fucking clue what you're getting yourself into" I'm just a local skater voicing my opinion it's not like I'm on the board in Portland making decisions on which company makes the park or not, I just have gone to their site and seen other parks they have made in the past. If they were good enough to make the world's largest skatepark in Louisville, Kentucky they get my ok approval to make it in Maine. Don't be bitter that your company or company of chose didn't get chosen.

Read this article, especially the comments- http://pressherald.mainetoday.com/comments.php?id=315012&com_sent=1

The skaters in hundreds of other Cities and Towns have done the same thing over the years and they were left with a smoldering pile of dog shit when ARC left town. If i were you I'd start asking some questions because I know one of the local firms and they build sick shit and yea, they were my company of choice so that we could have gotten a rad park instead of another piece of shit-

and yea, i'm pissed that my company of choice didn't get it because we were going to get real street shit and two pools and they build real stuff that's not delivered on a truck

Well I remember the other designs for the park it was not a real street plaza of any kind and when I emailed Tom Noble about the designs for the park he said that he didn't want to make a pure street plaza and replicate famous spots cause it wouldn't accommodate all skaters. As far as bitching and moaning about what company makes what I really don't care. This blog is a place for people that actually care about the Maine skate community be to positive. If your gonna cry about it leave your comments somewhere else cause all your doing is making an ass out of yourself. If you really cared about the Maine skate scene you would be happy that a park is getting built not trying to protest and go against it from getting built now.
