SkateDaily.net posted an article about the Portland Skate Park

"Five years ago the city of Portland, Maine tore down its only skatepark to make room for college dorms with the promise to relocate the park within a year. Fast forward to 2010, after raising some capitol, the city and skaters finally had a plan, the ‘M’ design. The excitement of the plan was short lived. There was no further progress with the ‘M’ design, no ground breaking and no return phone calls from the city with regards to the issue. The city finally responded with a new plan and a modified design. A design that would cut the square footage of the park from 20,000 sq ft to 8,000 sq ft, yet still cost about the same amount of money.

Maine Skateboarding.com has set up a Facebook page as a forum to express the concerns of the skaters to the city of Portland and hope to return the ‘M’ Design to the planning board and provide a state of the art park for the skateboarders of Maine, the East Coast and the world. Voice your opinion."

Basic design for the Standish park by Who Skates

A 4' Mini Ramp will also be added. There might be a few other changes to the design. During the planning meeting only 4 middle school students and 1 27 yr old showed up to add their input.

the "New" Portland park design as in the 3rd or 4th time it's changed

So basically they changed the whole set up of the park again. Their plan of having it done by June/July isn't gonna happen as expected. It's half the size as the originally and is no longer a street plaza.

Fresh Pavement in Portland gives new life to old spots

With the help of the Portland works department they helped bring new life to some old spots in Portland. They've been doing lots of repaving around Portland and made 2 spots a lot better than before. First being the bank under Tukies Bridge next to the old sunny breeze they extended the sidewalk so you no longer have to make the quick pop up the curve and now can hit the cement hump some biker made a few years back. Second they also repaved the sidewalk under the overpass off of Marginal Way behind the hannaford plaza.
